| Being an Island shipping has produced a vast nautical history. Situated at the eastern end of Bass Strait in the middle of the Roaring 40s( The 40th Parallel) many sailing ships came to grief around the Furneaux Group. | |
| The museum has artefacts from some of the shipwrecks around the Group including one of the anchors from the Sydney Cove, the capstan and anchor from the G.W. Wolfe as well as other artefacts from various other wrecks. |
